Stuart Krog the country's number 1 Junior Golf player finished 3rd in the All Africa Youth Games in Gaborone in Botswana. This was after a playoff for second place with Hendrick Johannes DuPlessis. Stuart shot 71, 74, and 73 over the three rounds against Hendrick's 71, 72, 75 for a total of 218. The two trailed behind another South African Kyle James McClatchie who shot 66,71 and 75 for a total of 212. This was an inaugural tournament for the golf section of the games.
McClatchie held on to his overnight lead and topped the Boys Division standings all the way.
The African Youth Games golf challenge was staged over three days in Botswana’s capital and was a 54 holes stroke play format.
The Africa Youth Games drew around 2500 athletes from 54 nations who are competing across 21 sports including athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, fencing, football, golf, judo, karate, netball, rowing, rugby, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball and weightlifting.
